Helping the Unfortunate

sc0001In Vietnam there is an increasing number of unfortunate babies born with disabilities. Unable to receive the health care that many of the modern world is receiving, it has become incredibly difficult for the children and especially their families to cope physically and emotionally. This has resulted in these children being looked after in metal beds with merely a blanket to keep them warm. Not only is this affecting the young but it is also common amongst the elderly. The families of the unfortunate are unable to pay the funds needed to give their loved ones medical attention.

During our visit to South and Central Vietnam, we met the families and friends of these individuals, no different to us, who had ventured from far lands to meet with us altogether. It was very touching to see these fighting souls trapped in a cage of their own body. Only after a short while we were all emotionally connected to these families and their stories. After having raised enough funds, we were able to provide a multitude of different resources that were essential to life, these ranged from bags of rice, instant noodles and money. When these families were presented with these offerings it created an epiphany on how fortunate we are and how we must do everything in our favour to help those in need. It was very difficult to say goodbye to such a friendly community but we wished our farewells, happy with our efforts.
